REPORT CARD POST :)

Overall, this year has been fun, enjoyable, and I have learnt a lot about myself as an active learner. I believe that I have done well in all four pillars, and below I have evidence showing and proving this.

PARTICIPATION
Since the beginning of the year, I have always participated to my fullest potential and tried my best in class. Whether it was a choice day, a fitness day, or a block/ class wide chosen activity, I always come to class in my gym strip and on time. I didn't miss more than 4 classes, and it was always for field hockey or school events. My physical presence and activity level in this class is high because I always am motivating others and participating with purpose in the game we are playing. For example, when/ if my team members in volleyball are just talking, I always ask them to play properly and try harder so it is more fun for everybody.  I always have intensity and enthusiasm in class. When I come, I am no only physically prepared, but I am mentally prepared as well, meaning that I am focussed and involved in the activity that I am participating in. My skill level in various games, such as volleyball, soccer, and handball, has improved greatly over the course of this year. At the beginning of the year, I couldn't serve the ball over the net, but now I rarely ever miss. Another example of my improvement is my handball skills. The first time we played handball, I avoided having the ball passed to me because I was afraid to make a mistake, but now, I score goals and try my best to make a difference for my team in the game. My motivation behind my selection of activities on choice days normally came down to the sport that I wanted to improve in as well as the sport that I thought would be fun and enjoyable for me. I find that in choice days, often times it is up to you to push yourself, and I believe I have done a great job doing this for myself this whole year. The sport I played the most was probably volley ball because in my goal at the beginning of the year was to improve in volleyball. Fitness days were sometimes a challenge for me, as they should have be. Even so, always I tried my best to participate in the activity to my fullest potential. I was able to push myself physically for the whole year, as well as motivate my classmates and friends. My friends Prabhneet and Gagan, as well as other girls in my class, encouraged me to continue on when I felt like I couldn't do anymore. I enjoyed doing the beep test because it is good to know what my fitness level was at. Also, when I improved in my scores, I felt proud of myself. In the end of the year, I accomplished the goal I had set out for myself at the beginning of the year. In this section, I believe that I deserve a mark of 23/ 25.
The photo below shows the improvement in my beep test scores. By the end of the year, I achieved the goal I had set for myself at the end of first term.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CONTRIBUTION TO CLASS

Over the course of the year, I believe that I have worked with my peers well and have contributed to making my classmates' experience more successful. During class, I have leadership. I help organize teams (on choice days) and am always encouraging my peers and helping them out by pushing them to do their best, no matter what the activity is. For example, I help organize the handball and some o the volleyball teams when we play. Before the activity starts, I help set up the equipment, such as the volleyball nets, and I help take down/ put away the equipment that isn't needed for fourth period. I help other classes without being asked, such as the time I helped a few of Mr. Vaughan's students with their blogs when they did them for the first time. No matter the activity, I always find the positive in whatever we are doing. For example, I don't like kickball that much, but when we played it, I tried my best and encouraged others to try their best as well. During class, I talk to other students in our class/ block because I think that it makes it more fun for everyone. During fitness testing and scores, I am always honest and truthful because I know that if I lie, I am only cheating myself. For example, I can see my improvement throughout the year by looking at my beep test scores because I know they are an honest representation of my fitness level. While in competition, I don't cheat because it ruins the game for everyone. I have witnessed this during some of the games that we played as a whole block, such as capture the flag. When we played capture the flag (the one where we used the whole school property), people stated cheating and switching teams, which made the whole game confusing and hard to play. In the community, I volunteer for my sister's rhythmic gymnastics team (screenshot below), as well as being a part of a few of the field hockey clubs. I was also on the school field hockey team this year. In this section I believe that I deserve a 24/ 25.

The volunteering post I wrote about coaching my sister's Rhythmic Gymnastics team.

HEALTHY LIVING

Throughout this year, my fitness has gotten better since the start. My fitness scores tell me that I have greatly improved and they show me that my fitness routines are working. Since last year, I went from a 5.0 to a 8.7 on the beep test. This makes me proud because I have worked really hard to bring up (and keep up) my fitness scores. Closer to the end of the year, I sprained my ankle in a field hockey tournament and since then, I have been doing physiotherapy and conditioning to help make my ankle strong again. For field hockey, I have to maintain a healthy diet to make sure that I don't have any junk in my system. Field hockey and Tae Kwon Do have really changed the way I live my life, especially in healthy living. I will continue playing field hockey and participating in Tae Kwon Do and will cannot see myself stopping or quitting because of the major difference they have made in my life. Since the beginning of the year, I have written about my extra- curricular activities as well as including lots of digital evidence (photos) of Tae Kwon Do and Field Hockey throughout the blog. In this aspect of the assessment, I believe that I deserve a 22/ 25.

DIGITAL PORTFOLIO AND REFLECTIVE SKILLS
Over the course of this year, I have written 40 blog posts (including the ones on the side of my blog) and posted many pictures of my fitness life. When I write a blog post, I don't only say what I did, but I reflect on my participation, my skill level, my contribution to the activity, things I can do to improve, and more. I also write about future goals I have set for myself. I found this particularly useful when I looked back at my blog because I could see if I achieved my goal that I had originally set. I also include research in my blog, such as statistics. When my classmates and Mr. Neuf commented on my blog, I took the time to think about what they said and used their advice for next time. I also commented on my classmates' blog, and I personally really enjoyed doing it because I like to help my classmates improve too. I believe that I did a good job on the final blog post. I tried to include evidence and examples.

This year has been amazing and my fitness has improved a great deal. So, when I reflect on the year, I believe that I deserve the final letter grade of an A.

Kick Ball!!!

Yesterday, the whole class played kick ball. Before we started, I wasn't really happy about the choice, but I decided to have a positive attitude, and I ended up having lots of fun. I tried my best and stayed engaged in the game. I caught the ball a few times and got 3 home runs. In the end, our team lost REALLY badly, but we all had fun. If we play this again before the end of the year, I think one thing I can do better is motivate the other girls in the class to try their best as well instead of pretending there're not there.
