March 7, 2014 Beep Test
Today we ran the beep test in class. I am sick today so it was a little hard. I didn't get a new highest score for me, but that is okay because I tried my best under the circumstances that I had. A goal I have for the future is to be able to do more push ups and build my core.

Handball
Today in P.E. class, my class played hand ball and it was really fun. I tried my best and I scored :). I like choice days because everyone has something that they like to do as an option. People can chose new sports and try them out as well.

Report Card Post
PARTICIPATION
I always come to gym class on time and in gym strip. During class, I always participate to my fullest ability. I try to motivate my friends and peers to work to the best of their abilities on fitness and choice days. My favorite choice activities are handball, badminton, fox and the hound, dodge ball, and capture the flag. I believe these are the activities that I am most successful in. On choice days, I usually choose an activity that I would like to improve on, such as volleyball. On fitness days, I try my best no matter what the activity is. My favorite fitness activities are the beep test, community run, and loco locomotive.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CONTRIBUTION TO THE CLASS
During class, I encourage my friends and peers to participate and try their best. Before and after class, I help set up and take down equipment, such as the volleyball nets. During the beep test days, I help the grades 8's with the different categories, such as the sit and reach. I always have a smile on my face and a positive attitude when I come to class.
I played for the Sullivan Heights Filed Hockey team earlier this year. It was fun and I hope to join the school field hockey team next year.
Outside if school, I am very active. I play for two different field hockey clubs (Panthers and Sharks). I play games every weekend, as well as go to multiple practices every week. I also participate in the FHBC Train to Train program, which requires lots of effort and work. I am a blue belt in Tae Kwon Do and I go to Woo Kim Surrey Tae Kwon Do on Sundays and sometimes Fridays for two hours. Every morning, I go to the gym for forty-five minutes every morning as part of my Team BC Training.
HEALTHY LIVING
This year I have improved my fitness level a lot. Last year, my first beep test score was 5.5. Now I get over 8.5 on the Beep Test every time. I have also learnt more about how far I can push myself even when my mind is telling my to quit. The only barrier/ limitation I have in gym class is when I'm telling myself to give up in class. Originally (last year), I would stop the fitness activity I was doing, but now I will keep on going and continuing to do the activity correctly until the end.

At home and at school I always try my best to eat healthy. I like to chose alternatives that are healthy rather than a bag of chips, for example. I eat lots of fruit and vegetables. One thing I have to do is drink more water (which I have been trying to do recently) to keep my body hydrated.
I try to prevent injuries by warming up and stretching correctly before and after my fitness. When I do get injured, I apply the correct treatment and try to get healthy again as soon as possible.
My future plans and goals regarding my fitness are to continue Tae Kwon Do and get my black belt. I will also play field hockey as long as I can be chase I love the sport and it keeps me in shape. I will continue eating healthy and exercising on a regular basis.
DIGITAL PORTFOLIO AND REFLECTIVE SKILLS
Regarding the blogs, I post after most fitness days and some choice days. I provide pictures of the activities I do for digital evidence and proof. I comment on my peers blogs to help them improve their blog as well. I take the comments I receive for my classmates into consideration when I do my next blog post. Next semester, I will try to get more videos and recordings of me on fitness and choice days for more proof.
Overall, I believe my efforts this semester deserve a work habit of 'G' and a letter grade of 'A'.

Mid-Term Reflection
During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate in a variety of activities? On what days have you participated to your best effort and why? What days have been a struggle for you and why? This year, I have shown I am prepared for class because I always bring my gym strip and water bottle. I have shown I am willing to participate by always having a positive attitude and I am constantly excited to try new things. Fitness days are always a challenge for me, but I try my best. I have to say that I put the most effort in on Beep Test days because I like to know my current fitness levels. I cannot say that I do not try on certain days because I enjoy participating in class.
How do you contribute to the overall success of the class? What kind of attitude do you bring and why? How do you interact with other students in our class? I contribute to the overall success of the class because I always come to class with a positive attitude. I am hard working and constantly encourage my classmates to participate and try their best. I interact well with the other students in the class. I help out when my peers ask me to.
Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself physically? What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most? What fitness goals do you have for the rest of the year? Fitness days are sometimes a challenge for me. Even so, I try my best to participate in the activity. I have been able to push myself physically in the first part of this course. My friend Prabhneet encourages me to continue on when I feel like I can't do anymore. I enjoy doing the beep test because it is good to know what your fitness level is at. When I improve in my scores, I feel proud of myself.
What does "leadership" mean to you? Who are the best leaders in our class - why? To me, leadership means to be a good role model and a helpful peer in the class. People who encourage and motivate you to do better are leaders. In our class, I believe there are a lot of role models who help and motivate their peers to try their best and participate.
What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year? What are you the most proud of so far? I would defiantly like to have my beep test score over 8.5. I am proud of how much I improved with my fitness ability because of this class.
Finally, what letter grade A, B, C+, C, C- (gulp) best represents the effort you just described? I believe I deserve an A for the first semester of Active Learning 9. I am always trying my best in class. I help my classmates out when they need it and I also motivate them to do better. I come to class prepared and with a positive attitude. Last, but not least, I have improved a lot in my physical fitness ability since the beginning of the school year.

Kelowna
On November 5, 2013, the Sullivan Field Hockey team took a road trip to Kelowna to play a wildcard game to get into Provincials. It was a really great experience and the team had lots of fun. Even though we lost 1-0 in overtime, we walked away with our heads held high. I t was a great season and I will definitely miss all the Grad 2014 girls on the team!!!

Goals for my Sports
I am currently participating in two sports: Field Hockey an Tae Kwon Do.
The goal I have set for myself in Tae Kwon Do is to earn my Blue Belt. Right now, I attend
Woo Kim Surrey Tae Kwon Do on Sundays for two hours. I also practice during the week with my brother.
My Field Hockey goal (which is a funny thing to say since I'm a goalie), is to make Team BC this year. In order to do this, I need to reach a 8.0 on the Canadian Beep test. I have improved my skills and fitness since last tryouts and think I have a good chance of making the team this year. Right now, I have practice two days a week and games three days a week.

Tough Mudder
On Tuesday, October 15, the gym block did the Tough Mudder for the first time. We made groups and completed tasks. My group members were Simar, Prabhneet, and Gagan. We worked really well together and pushed each other to the limit. At the end, we were proud of how we did as a team. My favorite part was the leap frog because it was kind of...um...fun (you could say).
